Marcellus girls soccer ‘focused’ on first state title since winning last one a decade ago

You could almost hear a pin drop as the Marcellus girls soccer team locked in on the task ahead during a quiet bus ride down to their Class B state semifinal match on Saturday at Cortland High School.
“They were very focused,” said longtime Marcellus coach Laurie Updike. “It was a very quiet bus on the way to the game today. I was wondering if they were still behind me. I think there was a lot of nerves and excitement and focus. When it comes time to get your mindset ready for a game, they’re doing the work.”
